Nawazuddin's role in Bajrangi Bhaijaan inspired by hilarious real-life Chand Nawab

Salman Khan starrer Bajrangi Bhaijaan has been ringing the cash registers of the box office since it released on Friday. And, while we absolutely cannot get over the return of the good old’ Bhai and how entertaining he was, it was hard not to laud Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s character in the movie as well. Screengrab from Youtube Chand Nawab and Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s charcter in Bajrangi Bhaijaan. Screengrab from Youtube[/caption] Making us laugh our hearts out as Chand Nawab the Pakistani journalist, Siddiqui exhibited his acting prowess to the hilt. However, his quirks and mannerisms as Chand Nawab did remind us of a certain viral video of a real-life Pakistani journalist whose name incidentally is also Chand Nawab. The video which was uploaded on Youtube on 8 December 2008 shows Chand Nawab, a Pakistani journalist’s unedited P2C clip during his time with Indus News. In the video, Chand Nawab was filmed struggling to conclude his news report as passer-bys kept on interrupting him. He finally managed to complete the report after several reports. The video was uploaded on the internet by his colleagues as a prank and has gone viral ever since, with it being the subject of some parodies as well.

One look at the video and you end up finding similarities with Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s mannerisms in the movie. His lost and distracted look while facing the camera and his annoyance while reporting the P2C takes us back to Chand Nawab’s Indus News video. In case you haven’t seen the movie yet and have little idea of what we are talking about, watch the trailer which features Nawazuddin Siddiqui as the Pakistani journalist

Mere coincidence? Or was Kabir Khan’s Chand Nawab inspired by the real-life Pakistani journalist?
