Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to deliver the inaugural address for the India AI Impact Summit 2026. Meanwhile, the White House is scheduled to host the inaugural meeting of the Board of Peace (BoP) today.
Seoul Central District Court is scheduled to deliver a first-instance verdict for former South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol. London Fashion Week Autumn/Winter 2026 will officially begin on Thursday.
Here is all that is set to take place across the world today.
PM Modi to inaugurate AI summit
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to deliver the inaugural address for the India AI Impact Summit 2026 today at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. While the broader five-day summit and its accompanying Expo began on February 16, the Opening Ceremony and high-level plenary sessions specifically featuring the Prime Minister and world leaders are set for February 19.
The opening ceremony is scheduled to begin at 9:40 am. PM Modi will be joined by the French President Emmanuel Macron, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, and global tech CEOs. PM Modi will then participate in the Leaders’ Plenary, which will take place around 12 pm onwards, bringing together Heads of State, ministers, and senior representatives from multilateral institutions to outline national and global priorities on AI, including governance, infrastructure, and international cooperation, reported a press statement.
White House ‘Board of Peace’ meeting
The White House is scheduled to host the inaugural meeting of the Board of Peace (BoP) today at the Donald J Trump Institute of Peace in Washington DC. The summit will serve as the first official session for the board and a fundraising conference for the reconstruction of Gaza.
As part of the second phase of the president’s 20-point peace plan, the newly established group will supervise reconstruction work in Gaza and oversee the disarmament of Hamas. The Board of Peace is also set to deploy an international security force to maintain the ceasefire, which has been broken repeatedly since October.
Joining the board for a permanent seat requires a $1 billion membership fee. Earlier, a number of European countries, among them France, Germany, Italy, and the United Kingdom, turned down an invitation from Donald Trump.
South Korea court to give verdict in ex-president’s martial law case
The Seoul Central District Court is scheduled to deliver a first-instance verdict for former South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol on Thursday.
The ruling centres on insurrection charges, the most serious in the South Korean legal code, stemming from his December 2024 declaration of martial law. Special prosecutors have sought the death penalty, accusing Yoon of masterminding an “anti-state” insurrection that endangered national security and civil liberties.
This is the second time in South Korean history a former head of state has faced capital prosecution, the first being military dictator Chun Doo-hwan in 1996. The court will also deliver verdicts for former Defense Minister Kim Yong-hyun and several other security officials implicated in the alleged plot.
On January 16, 2026, Yoon was sentenced to five years in prison in a separate trial for abuse of power, obstructing justice, and falsifying documents related to the martial law bid. He was officially removed from office on April 4, 2025, after the Constitutional Court unanimously upheld his impeachment.
London Fashion Week to begin
The London Fashion Week Autumn/Winter will officially begin on Thursday, running through Monday, February 23. Editors, buyers, stylists, and a decent handful of celebrities will descend on the city to cast a discerning eye over the painstakingly crafted wares of some 120 designers and brands.
Last year’s spring/summer 2026 London Fashion Week — the first with Laura Weir at the helm of the British Fashion Council — felt fresh and full of energy. Now the big question is whether that spark will carry through to her second outing.
