Odd-even rule makes a comeback in polluted Delhi, to be applicable from 13 to 20 November

Odd-Even vehicle system will be applicable in Delhi for one-week from November 13 to November 20. The decision was taken during a high-level emergency meeting convened by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Monday over deteriorating air quality in the national capital and its adjoining areas, which is being attributed to stubble burning in neighbouring states as well as firecrackers. The minister said, considering that the pollution is likely to go up post-Diwali, the Delhi government has taken the decision to impose the odd-even rule for cars. “In view of air pollution, the Odd-Even vehicle system will be applicable for one week from 13th to 20th November,” said Delhi Environment Minister Gopal Rai.

The environment minister of Delhi further said, “As per the forecast, the wind speed will be 12km/hour on November 7 and if the speed reaches 10 to 12 km/hour, then there is a possibility that the level of pollution accumulated here might disperse.” “Similarly, the wind speed will be 8-10 km/hour on November 8. It is expected that the speed of wind will increase on November 7 and 8 which will reduce the level of pollution,” Rai added.
