Doctors have given the latest update on Michael Schumacher’s condition after he suffered a head injury while skiing in the French Alps: A spokesman for the hospital said: “Michael Schumacher was the victim of very serious trauma. He was very agitated when he arrived and we decided he was in a critical situation and he quickly went into a coma. “The neurosurgical treatment he received brought us quite a lot of information. We had to operate urgently to release some pressure in his head. Unfortunately, he has some lesions within his brain.” [caption id=“attachment_1314165” align=“alignleft” width=“380”] File photo of Schumacher skiing. AP[/caption] “Accident particularly serious. We are not able to express ourselves about his future,” they said. Doctors said he will be kept in a coma and added: “We can’t really say when he’ll recover.” They also said that he “remains critical” and “extremely serious”. As reported earlier, Schumacher wearing a helmet went a long way in saving his life. In fact, doctors said that he would have died had he not be wearing the helmet: “Someone who had had this accident without a helmet certainly wouldn’t have got here.” Doctors say they do not intend a second brain operation at the moment.
