Ahead of the launch, CEO Tim Cook has teased that Apple is set to launch its next-gen product range in the coming week, starting March 2.
This comes a few days after Apple sent invitations for March 4. It means that while the iPhone-maker is keeping the big launch for March 4, it will begin the showdown starting Monday.

While the details are yet to come in, the rumour has it that Apple will roll out its budget phone, iPhone 17e, low-cost MacBook, and new iPad. If you take a step back and look at the picture, it sets just right. We think, MacBook and iPads will be unveiled either on March 2 or March 3, respectively. And the big launch event, for which the invitations has been sent out, is scheduled for the iPhone 17e.
This could be true, unless Apple has another trick under its sleeve. Till we know for sure, let’s dive into the upcoming Apple lineup in detail.
iPhone 17e: Apple’s budget phone returns
Apple’s upcoming iPhone 17e is expected to continue the company’s formula for its more affordable models, familiar design, upgraded internals. Following last year’s iPhone 16e with the A18 chip, the new model is tipped to feature the A19 processor from the standard iPhone 17 range, promising faster performance, improved graphics, and smoother on-device AI tasks without a major redesign.
Reports suggest it will retain a 6.1-inch display with a notch, a single 48MP rear camera, and a 60Hz panel lacking an always-on mode. Subtle upgrades may include slimmer bezels, Dynamic Island, MagSafe charging, and an enhanced 18MP front camera with Centre Stage for better video framing.
In markets such as India, the iPhone 17e is expected to compete with Samsung’s Galaxy S FE and Google’s Pixel A series. It will likely appeal to buyers prioritising long-term software support, high resale value, and seamless ecosystem integration, though Android rivals may still attract those wanting higher refresh rates or more versatile cameras.
Low-cost MacBook: Is it really though?
There’s growing speculation around Apple’s upcoming budget MacBook, expected to fill the gap between the $999 (approx. Rs 82,800) MacBook Air M4 and the older MacBook Air M1, which currently sells for as low as $449 (approx. Rs 37,200) at retailers like Walmart.
Rumours suggest the low-cost MacBook will feature an A18 Pro chip, the same processor used in the iPhone 16 Pro, along with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage, indicating some compromises to reach a lower price point.
Quick Reads
View AllIf Apple prices it around $749 (approx Rs 62,000), the device may struggle to compete with affordable Chromebooks and Windows laptops, many of which cost $500 (approx Rs 41,400) or less. At that range, Apple’s own MacBook Air line would likely offer significantly better value, raising questions about how “low-cost” this new MacBook will truly be.
New iPads
Apple is reportedly preparing updates for both its entry-level iPad and the iPad Air, with performance upgrades taking priority over major design changes. The next base model, expected to be called the iPad 12, is rumoured to move from the A16 chip to either an A18 or A19, depending on which report you believe. This shift should deliver noticeable gains in speed and energy efficiency compared to the iPad 11.
The new iPad is likely to retain its 11-inch Liquid Retina display and start with 128GB of storage, offering enough space for students and casual users to store apps, photos, and videos. While older iPads may remain on sale at reduced prices, the improved multitasking and longer lifespan of the iPad 12 could make the modest premium worthwhile.
Meanwhile, the iPad Air range is expected to receive an upgrade from the M3 to the M4 chip, while keeping its existing 11-inch and 13-inch sizes. The change should mean faster everyday performance, extended battery life, and smoother handling of Apple Intelligence features. For those seeking a tablet that balances portability with solid productivity and creative capabilities, the refreshed iPad Air is expected to remain the best all-round choice.
