Former Pakistan cricketer Ahmad Shahzad has made a surprising statement amid the ongoing tensions at the Indo-Pak borders. India and Pakistan have been involved in a bloody clash since the former launched Operation Sindoor to target terror camps across the fence on 7 May. It was in response to the terrorist attack in Jammu & Kashmir’s Pahalgam, where 26 tourists lost their lives.
After India successfully struck missiles across 9 locations in Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir and Pakistan’s Punjab province targetting terror camps, the Pakistani military launched a drone war, attacking Indian cities in Kashmir, Punjab, Rajasthan, and Gujarat. Although Indian armed forces neutralised most of these strikes, they swiftly responded by hitting Pakistani military bases.
Ahmad Shahzad’s war cry goes viral
Amid the growing tensions and fears of war, Pakistani cricketer Ahmad Shahzad has issued a threat to India. Taking to his official account on X (formerly Twitter), Shahzad wrote, “We didn’t pick this fight, but we will end it. We are ready.” His post quickly went viral, sparking reactions on both sides of the border.
India-Pakistan agree to ceasefire
Shahzad’s statement came hours before both India and Pakistan officially declared a ceasefire. The two countries have agreed to stop all military activities by sea, air, and land. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has confirmed that the truce was reached through direct talks and without any mediation from a third party.

Meanwhile, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), which has already suspended the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season for a week, may spring into action to decide on the future of the tournament and how it will be completed.
The IPL 2025 was stopped after 58 matches including the one between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals that was called-off mid-way due to security threat in Dharamsala on Thursday. The BCCI arranged a special Vande Bharat train next morning to bring back franchises, commentators, TV crew and operations staff to Delhi.
It will be interesting to see how the IPL 2025 resumes because most of the overseas players and support staff have already left or are leaving India due to the unsafe environment after the BCCI suspended the league.
