NxtQuantum launches Ai+ Smartphones in India with focus on data privacy and affordability

NxtQuantum launched the Ai+ smartphones that the company claims are the first to be fully designed and built entirely in India, governed on Indian infrastructure with uncompromising data privacy, where users gain true control over how their data is stored, accessed and protected. Powered by NxtQuantum OS, India’s first mobile operating system built on Android 15 platform, the Ai+ smartphones strive to deliver performance, affordability and privacy to the users. It aims to redefine what ownership, transparency and digital trust should look like in the smartphone era.

The company further states that these phones will give Indian users an alternative to foreign-built devices with opaque software ecosystems, giving them full visibility and control over their data. In the words of Madhav Sheth, CEO - Ai+ Smartphone and Founder - NxtQuantum Shift Technologies, “Ai+ Smartphone is about putting control back in the hands of Indian users. For years, we’ve relied on phones and platforms that were never made with India in mind. Ai+ Smartphone changes that. These phones are fast, beautifully designed, and most importantly, they keep your data safe”.

Ai+ smartphones are manufactured in India by United Telelinks Limited at their Noida factory. Everything from software to supply chain has supposedly been aligned to India’s needs, focusing on how users live, work, learn and connect. Other than long battery life, HD displays and dual SIM flexibility, the phones support regional languages, local content, and a customisable experience through NxtQuantum’s Theme Designer Tool.

While India boasts of 800 million smartphone users, there are still over 400 million that use feature phones. The company aims to target a sizable chunk of this user base with their entry-level model priced under Rs 5,000 and shift them to a smart device. As for the former, the company claims that most smartphones today route user data through third-party systems outside the country with little visibility or control. Ai+ smartphones will fix that by storing personal data, from app preferences to backups, in India, utilising MeitY (Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology)-empanelled Google Cloud Regions.

In addition to the new phones, the company plans to build an ecosystem of products, and the company teased a first of those called Wearbuds. It is a unique product that combines a fitness watch and TWS (true wireless) earbuds into a single device. Basically, the watch shell acts as a charging case for the buds. The watch has a 1.43-inch AMOLED touchscreen display and tracks health and fitness parameters like heart rate, blood oxygen level and multiple sports and activities in addition to other features.

How its 310 mAh battery will balance the watch’s needs and that of the TWS buds remains to be seen. Speaking of the buds, each of them is fitted with a 6 mm dynamic driver and a 25 mAh battery that gives it about 3 hours of playtime. The Bluetooth 5.3 compliant product supports SBC and AAC codecs and sports IPX4-rated sweat resistance. The Wearbuds will be available sometime in August with the pricing yet to be disclosed but hinted to be above Rs 5,000.
