UN humanitarian aid for terrorism: IDF says Hamas used UNICEF first aid kits during Israel attack

While the UN has been crying humanitarian crisis in Gaza after Israel’s military operations, Tel Aviv has lambasted the international body, saying that its humanitarian aid was used by Hamas during its attack on Israel on 7 October. In a post on X, formerly Twitter, the Israel Defence Forces (IDF) said United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) first aid kits were used by Hamas terrorists during their assault on Israeli towns on October 7. “Humanitarian aid for the purpose of terrorism,” said IDF as it shared the images of the first aid kits that Hamas used during their raids on Israel. One of the pictures shows the UNICEF first aid kit lying on the ground around the sites of the Hamas attack in southern Gaza. Another picture shows a UNICEF first aid kit hanging at a vehicle which probably was used by Hamas in the attack.

The images were shared by IDF hours ahead of UN aid chief Martin Griffiths’ announcement that he would be travelling to the Middle East to support negotiations on getting aid into the blockaded Gaza Strip. “I shall be going myself tomorrow (Tuesday, October 11) to the region to try to help in the negotiations, to try to bear witness and to express solidarity with the extraordinary courage of the many thousands of aid workers who have stayed the course and who are still there helping the people in Gaza and in the West Bank,” he said in a statement. Earlier in the day, United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said: “To Israel, rapid and unimpeded access for humanitarian aid must be granted for the sake of the civilians in Gaza.” The Israeli military said Hamas and other Palestinian terrorists are holding 199 hostages in Gaza, higher than previous estimates. Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari, a military spokesman, said on Monday that the families have been notified. He did not specify whether that number includes foreigners, or say who is holding them. Most are believed to be held by the Hamas militant group, which rules Gaza. With inputs from agencies
